The summer is well underway, but volunteer opportunities remain abundant. They allow teenagers to step into the shoes of a leader. Despite the full library of volunteer activities, however, it is important for teenagers to consider which opportunities suit their interests, skillsets, and community goals.

Vol(U)nteering With Purpose:

There is a lot of stigma from teenagers to pursue volunteering opportunities to build a portfolio. However, the work they complete should be meaningful to them. Everyone should aspire to leave a mark on society, but there are different ways teens can go about it.

When teenagers volunteer, they actively engage with the situation or challenge that requires attention. The first step to becoming a leader is giving yourself the time to analyze the problem. Engaging in various service opportunities enables teenagers to gain a deeper understanding of the segment of the community they support.

Different volunteer opportunities that build leadership include...

Park & Trail Restoration:

Community Focus-This opportunity rejuvenates natural areas, guaranteeing a cleaner (and greener) environment for both families and wildlife.

Leadership Gain-Teenagers will successfully execute restoration projects by learning through territory mapping, safety tasks, and physical initiatives.

Leadership Gain-Teenagers will establish instructional communication skills through effective learning methods to foster others' academic development.

Animal Shelter Enrichment:

Community Focus-This volunteer opportunity involves teenagers assuring animals in a shelter to mitigate anxiety and enrich their lives before the adoption phase.

Leadership Gain-Teenagers will develop crisis adaptability by thoughtfully responding to animals during challenging or uncertain situations.

Food Drives & Sorting:

Community Focus-This event supports families by providing them with a direct line to nutritional services, actively reducing food insecurity within the community.

Leadership Gain-Teenagers will enhance productivity by managing fast-moving inventory and maintaining professional distribution standards.

Hospital Care:

Community Focus-Hospital volunteering optimizes happiness in a clinical environment, providing comfort and companionship to stressful patients.

Leadership Gain-You will improve communication skills by assessing the needs of different patients and offering tailored support.

Closing Statement:

These are just a few social areas that could gain from volunteer support. Volunteering isn't only available, it is encouraged. Teenagers should seek out opportunities where they feel they can have the most significant influence.
